Internet Explorer 9
March 17th 2010 14:02
Not long after the release of IE8 it looks like microsoft are already starting on IE9. Its no suprise that they needed a newer version of IE so soon with IE8's release not even supporting css3. It looks like IE9 may even come close to the standards of Firefox. Saying that I usually get disappointed with any new releases of Internet Explorer as I was with the release of IE8.
So, what does IE9 have to offer you say? Well, you can expect increased css3 support for starters. Along with an increase in Web standards. Microsoft also boasts a better javascript engine which will increase the performance of web applications as well as HTML5 support. Now some people believe this means we will be moving up in the world of web developement in allowing developers to code with css3 and html5 but I say that is still a long time coming. As developers we will still need to provide support for the dreaded ie7 and in some cases ie6. This means less chances to improve our code with css3 and html5 but at least internet explorer is heading in the right direction for once.
IE9 is only in its beta stage at the moment with no release date set for the browser. With performance previews still ongoing we can expect quite a few months before we see this browser on the market.
How do you think IE9 will perform?
